Who We Serve

Meet Our First Partner Home Buyer, Melissa Fournier
Habitat for Humanity of Rutland County (HFHRC), Vermont is pleased that Melissa Fournier, our first Partner Home Buyer, is now living with her family in a home we completely renovated in Fair Haven.   “Melissa has shown herself to be hard working and responsible.” said Chris Heintz, former HFHRC President. “She is just the kind of person we want to help step up to become a homeowner of an affordable home.”

Melissa grew up in the Rutland area and has worked at a local hotel for the last five years. She is the mother of two daughters, five and thirteen years old. Living in a rental apartment in Rutland for nine years, Fournier faced overwhelming increases in rent. “I have been working towards becoming mortgage ready for over three years now and trying to find a home I could afford,” said Fournier.

“So, here I am, the lucky mother of two beautiful girls, with a new job promotion, and an opportunity of a lifetime to be accepted into Habitat's home buyers' program.  Things are looking up and maybe all my guardian angels are looking out for my girls and me!” Fournier says with a smile!

Homeowners are selected based on their need for housing,
their ability to repay a mortgage and their willingness to
work in partnership with Habitat.   We are always pleased to hear from people who are interested in learning how to qualify for a Habitat home.  To learn more, please email us at rutlandhabitat@gmail.com.
