Directors present: Chris Heintz, Dave Pearson, Rebecca Woodard, Christina Gilman, Rob Geiszler.
Others present: Paul Brown, Linda Justin – The Dream Center. Chairman Heintz called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM and welcomed Linda Justin, founder of The Dream Center as guest speaker. Linda is adopting neighborhoods, one street at a time. She is getting to know the residents and their needs and offering to help in many ways. The Dream Center location is at 97 West Street; she has filed for 501c3 status, but so far her venture has been personally financed. She may have a family in mind for a Habitat house and she is already coaching them on home ownership. Rob moved to accept the Minutes of February 4, 2014, Christina seconded. Approved. Christina reported the checkbook balance is $251.82 . The first phone bill was $63.04 with set-up charges, subsequently, it will be around $40.00. The check printing charge was $30.00. Chris indicated the Affiliate status is still pending official approval. The Board Retreat is firming up with a tentative Agenda in the morning session of ByLaw review, Budget, Vision or Mission Statement, and Goal for 2014. The afternoon will likely be breakout sessions for the individual committees. Site Selection: Dave Pearson would like to move along on acquiring the lot(s) that have been investigated. Do we have funds to move toward closing and can a title search be started? The Directors hope to discuss this further at the upcoming Retreat. The Construction Committee is ready to go as indicated in the last monthly report. They just need the standard Habitat plans to determine actual needs or to view a building, if it is to be a rehab project. The Resource Development hasn’t met since their last update. They now have a logo and letterhead (temporary ones). The Faith Relations Committee is also ready to go. They have developed a letter and mailing list to send to area churches. They have been invited to speak at the Unitarian Universalist Church on June 8. Rob will move away from Resource Development and work to develop the Family Selection/Support Committee. The Castleton State College basket raffle is Sunday at 3 PM. Christina moved to adjourn. Rob seconded. All agreed. Submitted by: Rebecca Woodard, Secretary
