About Us:
The Habitat for Humanity of Rutland County, Vermont Affiliate serves residents of the Rutland County Community. After almost a decade of being unaffiliated, members of the community recognized the need for Habitat and took action. Beginning in late 2012, a steering committee went through the lengthy process of applying to become a Habitat affiliate. The new affiliate completed its first home, a whole-house renovation, in Fair Haven in the fall of 2016. Since then, we have built new homes on Griswold Avenue, Crescent Street, and Cleveland Avenue in Rutland City. On April 23, 2022, we broke ground on the first of three homes that we will build on Hickory Street in Rutland.
Rebekah Stephens to serve as our Executive Director! Eric Solsaa, president of the board for the Rutland affiliate of Habitat, announced that Rebekah Stephens will serve as the Executive Director. “Stephens, through her work with the cupboard and Rutland’s Promise, had demonstrated she was “excited about housing.” “She’s totally mission-driven, and we know her to be a really hard worker that cares a lot about the community,” he said. While Stephens said taking the position with Habitat was a “no-brainer,” she said, in a statement released over the weekend, she felt “blessed and grateful” for her time with the Community Cupboard. Rebekah will formally begin her work on June 1st. Click to read the full job description.
