Volunteering is at the very core of being human; No one has made it through without someone else’s help. - Heather French Henry
Myth - Habitat only needs volunteers who can help with building.
Yes, we have great need for people who have building experience. But, most of our volunteers learn by doing on site under the supervision of our site supervisor. While it typically takes 3,000 volunteer hours to build a Habitat home, as much time is spent by volunteers who never help with construction.
If you want to help hard-working area residents to live in safe, sufficient and affordable housing, we can find a way for you to become involved. Do you

If you are interested in helping, please read the safety rules before coming and ask questions when you arrive at the site. Please keep these things in mind:
- The first time you come to a build site, you will be asked to sign a liability form. Volunteers who are 16 or 17 must have a liability form signed by their parents or guardian. Unfortunately, we are not able to involve volunteers younger than 16.
- You will always be asked to sign in and sign out.
- Our regular workdays are Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
- We suggest that you bring a sandwich. (Sometimes volunteers provide light snacks for our break, but this does not always happen.)
- We maintain a smoke free work site. We ask that people who smoke, take a break from building and smoke in their cars, not on the work site.
Site Safety is our primary concern. Please dress for construction. This includes wearing proper shoes and no loose fitting clothing. If people are working above, we will require volunteers to wear construction helmets that we provide.
We have some tools on site for people to use. We encourage you to bring your own tools if you have them.
Depending upon the day's activities, you might want to consider bringing some of the followiing:
